My buddy Jeff recently ordered the cow moose decoy just in time for the late season archery hunt in interior Alaska this November. I had a cow tag for the area, and on the last day of the season we found a large cow moose feeding in some willows at first light. Jeff took his decoy and got down level with the moose and started working his way in on her. I worked the willows to the left of Jeff while the moose stood cautiously watching us.

She spooked a couple of times, but with some cow moans and bull grunts, she would stop and look back. Eventually she went back to feeding, but for the most part kept an eye on the decoy, and occasionally looked up in my direction.

Jeff noticed that the decoy was facing my direction, so he flipped it around facing the other way. Sure enough, the old cow looked back at the decoy, then the opposite direction. I was able to sneak through the willows to an opening at 30 yards and let an arrow fly right behind her shoulder. We wouldn't of gotten that moose without the decoy as she wanted to bust out of there, but if it looks like a moose, and sounds like a moose... what do you do?

We estimated the weight of this cow around 1100 pounds, and put over 500 pounds in the freezer after processing her.Thank you Montana Decoy for such a great product! I'm impressed with the quality of the decoy, and plan to take one into the moose woods with me every time I go. I can only imagine how fun it will be to play with a rut crazed bull with this decoy!
