I am 48 and have lived in Colorado all my life. I started hunting with a BB gun when I was around nine shooting birds and rabbits. When I was eleven I started goose hunting with my older brother. When I reached twelve and thirteen I was allowed to go to elk camp with my dad and brothers but was not allowed to hunt until I was fourteen. I shot my first bull elk that year and the next year shot a big 5X5 mule deer buck. At age sixteen I took up archery hunting and have been doing that to present. I started turkey hunting in 1991 and finally killed my first tom four years latter. I`ve been hunting elk 33 years and turkey about 18 years, I don`t even remember how long for predators because it`s been that long.
In June of 1993 I was brought on to the pro staff team for Hunter`s Specialties and I`m still with them. I have been on the Red Head Denver Bass Pro hunting pro staff team going on 5 years and was brought on pro staff with Parker Bows and Montana Decoys in August 2009.
I have given elk, turkey and predator hunting seminars all over Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nebraska, and Wyoming. I have competed on the professional level in many elk, turkey and predator calling competitions. I have won three elk championships, three turkey championships, and one predator championship.
I have been married for 24 years and have two sons, Casey who is 20 which shot his first turkey when he was ten, then his first mule deer at age 12. My youngest, Cody is 12 years old that is following in his older brother`s footsteps. I can`t get out of the house to go hunting with out him.
I am a retired Fire Chief for Sable Altura Fire Rescue. I was a fire fighter for 27 years and had worked my way up the ranks and was promoted to fire chief in1996. Since retiring I have started my own business in photography/video and a lot more hunting, more so combining both. Currently I`m finishing my elk hunting book and also writing for Bass Pro.
